About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role helps you gain experience in store, district, and regional operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap.
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide caring service to patients and help solve or escalate issues.
- Follow company SOPs at all workstations.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing deliveries and cycle counts.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations, when allowable by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
