About the role#
This internship provides foreign-educated pharmacy graduates the opportunity to complete required US internship hours and gain real-world experience. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a mixed modality learning plan designed to develop your clinical skills and business acumen. This is a full-time, on-site role with a rolling start date. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment while following standard operating procedures and workflow protocols.
- Provide patient care by offering immunizations and other services, counseling patients, and fielding medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Handle telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Perform inventory tasks such as putting away deliveries, completing cycle counts, and managing returns.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions while documenting patient information.
- Complete immunizer training and certification to support vaccination efforts.
- Demonstrate empathy and care in all patient interactions, whether in person, at the drive-thru, or over the phone.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to meet physical demands including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, and repetitive hand movements.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure prescription accuracy and patient safety.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
