About the role#
This position is designed for foreign-trained pharmacists to complete the required US internship hours necessary for licensure. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. The program requires completion of internship hours within 18 months, with the goal of obtaining state pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while maintaining patient confidentiality according to HIPAA.
- Process prescriptions, including translation of SIG codes, labeling, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by following replenishment policies and assisting with drug orders.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff and identifying opportunities to drive business growth.
- Facilitate a positive team culture and participate in store operational meetings.
- Perform register transactions and assist customers with questions or concerns.
- Deliver health care services, such as immunizations, as allowed by state regulation.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of FPGEE and TOEFL examinations.
- Active Pharmacy Intern license in the state of California.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs. frequently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skills in results orientation, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and time management.
