About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours while working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to build upon their existing education, develop professional skills, and prepare for pharmacist licensure. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and meet all licensure requirements within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while focusing on patient safety.
- Perform professional pharmacy practice, including prescription processing, SIG code translation, labeling, and product selection.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, resolve third-party rejections, and complete manual claim forms.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing staff and identifying business opportunities.
- Deliver healthcare services, including immunizations, as permitted by state regulation.
- Maintain regulatory compliance, including HIPAA standards and company policies.
- Provide customer service by assisting patients with questions and concerns.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active pharmacy intern license in Pennsylvania.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in time management, digital literacy, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
