About the role#
CRST The Transportation Solution, Inc. offers an internship program for students interested in accounting and finance. This role provides hands-on experience within the transportation industry. You will work on projects that support internal and external stakeholders while applying classroom concepts to real-world business scenarios. Interns will have the opportunity to learn from senior leaders and present their work at the end of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Gain experience with transportation-specific accounting topics, including ASC 842 lease implementation, vehicle maintenance, and insurance.
- Assist with transactional accounting for accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Contribute to the month-end closing process to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support enterprise-wide accounting initiatives and projects.
- Develop an understanding of account structures and profit and loss reporting.
- Use Spreadsheet Server for financial analysis and reporting.
- Assist with the McLeod ERP system, including system deployment and general operations.
- Participate in status meetings and stand-up sessions.
- Present your project and experience to senior leadership.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university.
- Junior-level status with a major in Accounting, Finance, Data Science, or a similar field.
- Minimum 2.5 GPA or above.
- Enrollment in undergraduate courses for the fall semester following the summer internship.
- Strong technical acumen and experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and develop alternative solutions.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Self-starter mindset with a desire to take initiative and ownership.
- Strong work ethic and interest in a career in accounting or finance.
- Relevant work experience, internships, or involvement in business-related activities is preferred.
