About the role#
The Supply Chain Intern at Crane Company supports our manufacturing operations by executing strategies for assigned commodities. You will work to lower total costs, reduce inventory, and improve customer satisfaction. This role requires collaboration across production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve issues and drive productivity.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies to improve supplier quality, lead times, and on-time delivery.
- Negotiate contracts and obtain competitive bids while rationalizing the supply base.
- Manage material replenishment processes, including Kanbans, vendor managed inventory, and supplier consignments.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with standards like ISO 9001-2015, IATF 16949-2016, and API 6D.
- Facilitate strategic teams to leverage supplier capabilities in product design and cost reduction.
- Oversee multilevel material planning and monitor re-sourcing initiatives.
- Use eSourcing tools and technology to maximize the effectiveness of the sourcing process.
- Complete toll gates for DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, and process capability studies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S. or B.A. program for Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a supply chain role.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and scheduling software.
- Experience with lean concepts such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and 5S.
- Familiarity with pull systems, supplier qualification processes, and global sourcing.
- Ability to work effectively in multifunctional teams and influence others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time.
