About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineering Co-op supports continuous improvement and operational excellence at our Spartanburg facility. You will gain hands-on experience in process optimization, facility layout design, and Lean Manufacturing practices. This role involves working closely with engineering and production teams to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and overall performance.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain facility layout drawings using CAD software.
- Analyze manufacturing workflows to improve process flow, space utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Conduct time studies and maintain labor standards.
- Create and update standard work documentation and manufacturing procedures.
- Assess ergonomics, workplace safety, and 5S compliance.
- Support the development, testing, and improvement of manufacturing methods and equipment.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize data to identify trends and support decisions.
- Investigate manufacturing issues, find root causes, and assist with corrective actions.
- Research opportunities for collaborative robotics and optical inspection technologies.
- Evaluate data collection systems and support improvement projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various engineering tasks.
What you'll need#
- Sophomore standing or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work directly on the production floor.
- High attention to detail and a self-motivated approach to learning.
