About the role#
As a Process Engineer Intern at Crane Resistoflex, you will work directly on the shop floor to support production. Your primary focus is troubleshooting daily issues and performing root cause analysis to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient operations. You will design tooling, implement process changes, and manage cost reduction projects from initial concept through to final implementation.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement improvements to production processes, controls, and manufacturing methods.
- Analyze current processes to identify safety, quality, and efficiency opportunities.
- Resolve quality issues by identifying trends, determining root causes, and taking corrective actions.
- Reduce process variability and increase yields.
- Represent engineering within cross-functional teams including safety, quality, and operations.
- Prioritize and execute projects within agreed-upon timelines.
- Participate in team-based problem solving and continuous improvement events.
- Manage action plans for long-term projects.
- Research high-value cost-saving opportunities and justify necessary capital expenditures using data.
- Complete toll gates for DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and process capability studies.
- Ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 9001-2015, IATF 16949-2016, PED 2014/68/EU, API Spec. Q1, and API 6D.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in Engineering or a related degree.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, specifically SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, six sigma, and 5S practices.
- Proficiency with data analysis, statistics, and applied mathematics.
- Ability to understand process and product specifications.
- Basic understanding of industrial assembly, fabrication, and machining processes.
