About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern supports production by troubleshooting daily issues and performing root cause analysis. You will work directly on the shop floor to ensure processes are safe and meet quality requirements. This role involves designing and implementing tooling or process changes, as well as managing cost reduction projects from initial design through to final implementation.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain routings, tool lists, fixtures, and process instructions.
- Create work instructions and standard work documents.
- Use lean and CBS methodology to remove waste from operations.
- Address production stoppages using 5 why methodology to develop countermeasures.
- Train operators on efficient manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Coordinate the purchase of production materials and tooling.
- Assist with value stream mapping and continuous improvement plans.
- Audit and improve existing manufacturing processes.
- Simplify methods and tooling to reduce cycle times and work in process.
- Improve equipment layouts and material flow.
- Assist with justifying and installing capital equipment.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software, specifically Autodesk Inventor Professional.
- Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to interpret process and product specifications.
- Understanding of industrial assembly, fabrication, and machining processes.
- Skills in data analysis, statistics, and applied mathematics.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S practices.

- This is an on-site internship based in Saddle Brook, New Jersey.
- The position is full-time and paid.
