About the role#
Crane Company is hiring a Quality Engineer Intern to monitor and control the production of Resistoflex products. You will work across departments to ensure products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This role is based on-site in Marion, North Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement process control plans for manufacturing.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives in line with IATF 16949-2016 standards.
- Use 5-Why root cause analysis and other problem-solving tools to resolve quality issues.
- Drive improvements in the Cost of Poor Quality.
- Monitor special processes including welding, painting, and heat-treating.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical formulas.
- Record test data and assist the Quality Assurance Manager with third-party audits.
- Evaluate product quality through internal audits and perform Gage R & R studies.
- Assist the manufacturing team with technical issue resolution.
- Coordinate with customer auditors and manage corrective actions for returned materials.
- Perform inspection duties as needed and calibrate measuring equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.A. or B.S. program for Quality, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong background in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
- Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and assembly operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Ability to plan goals and solve problems using structured methods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic statistical skills and familiarity with statistical software like Minitab.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs and wear required safety equipment like eye and hearing protection.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends or overtime.
