About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern at Cox Enterprises, you will join our team to work on enterprise platforms, deployment pipelines, and security monitoring. You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside mentors and team members to develop tools that automate infrastructure and improve software delivery. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Atlanta, Georgia.
What you'll do#
- Develop and manage enterprise platforms, deployment pipelines, and security and quality monitoring.
- Build tools to automate tasks and maintain infrastructure platforms on public and private clouds.
- Create automation for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and support processes.
- Document new development, procedures, and test plans.
- Follow and help develop best practices, security, and engineering standards.
- Facilitate continuous integration and delivery by building necessary tools and pipelines.
- Automate code packaging, deployment, and configuration management.
- Gather feedback from delivery and operations teams to optimize engineering throughput.
- Track system and service performance across all environments and escalate issues as needed.
- Use AI tools to assist in productivity, testing, and automation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program (BA/BS) in Computer Science or a related field.
- Completed coursework in software development, systems, networking, and security.
- Experience with Windows and Linux systems, containers, and databases.
- Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language and scripting.
- Experience with source code, build, deploy, orchestration, and configuration management tools.
- Familiarity with public cloud architecture, preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with Agile concepts such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience or interest in using AI tools for development and testing tasks.
- Ability to clearly articulate thoughts and processes in both one-on-one and group settings.
- A collaborative attitude and a desire to resolve manual activities through automation.
