About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the Internal Controls Governance and Enterprise Risk Management teams at Cox Automotive. You will contribute to initiatives involving financial and IT controls, enterprise risk management, and the assessment of risks impacting business operations and financial reporting. You will gather evidence and perform testing to help assess whether risks are defined and controls are operating effectively.
What you'll do#
- Act as a team member within the Internal Controls and Enterprise Risk Management team.
- Assist with the maintenance and preparation of detailed documentation such as narratives, control descriptions, risk and control matrices, and process flowcharts.
- Monitor certifications for internal controls and narratives, including communicating status to control owners.
- Conduct process and internal controls walkthroughs to identify and validate controls.
- Support issue owners with documenting remediation action plans.
- Ensure internal control stakeholders receive timely and accurate assistance.
- Support enterprise risk management activities and assist in developing presentations for leadership.
- Cross-train in other areas of the governance and risk management team.
- Perform special projects and build relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Network with peers and industry professionals.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BA/BS degree in accounting or a related field.
- Past work experience or a desire to build a career in audit, risk, or compliance.
- A self-starter, flexible, and curious mindset.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and a fast learner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong desire to learn and the ability to pick up new systems and tools.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

- Compensation: $22.02 to $33.08 per hour.
