About the role#
The Field Engineering Intern supports IT installations, services, and infrastructure changes at headquarters, offices, and yards. This role involves assisting with office support, operational growth, yard moves, remodels, and decommissioning. Some travel may be required.
What you'll do#
- Remotely assist with installs, troubleshooting, and repairs of network, desktop, and voice equipment.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data circuits and escalate issues to vendors as needed.
- Track and resolve tickets in the Helpdesk system.
- Document and manage IT equipment inventory.
- Install and support IT devices, including PCs, servers, VoIP, mobility devices, and infrastructure.
- Assist in IT projects, including research, configuration, and deployment.
- Coordinate IT moves, adds, and changes across various sites.
- Update project documentation and design infrastructure wiring on floor plans.
- Work with vendors to obtain quotes and manage IT purchases.
- Survey sites, report discrepancies, and conduct connectivity tests for IT equipment.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications, LAN cabling, and data circuits.
- Experience with physical network and PC equipment installations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment under pressure.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs repeatedly.
