About the role#
The Vulnerability Management Engineering Intern will focus on automating security processes and integrating tools within the Copart infrastructure. This role involves working with backend systems to streamline vulnerability tracking, data analysis, and remediation workflows.
What you'll do#
- Lead initiatives to automate repetitive vulnerability management tasks, including scan orchestration and data normalization.
- Design and maintain Python scripts and middleware using FastAPI, GraphQL, and REST APIs.
- Query and manipulate large datasets to provide insights into the organization's vulnerability posture.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure teams, such as Network, Systems, and DevOps, to integrate patching workflows.
- Document and build automated security playbooks to replace manual processes.
- Evaluate emerging security technologies and their integration potential.
- Apply cybersecurity frameworks like NIST and CIS to automate compliance checks and infrastructure hardening.
- Monitor and respond to security alerts by analyzing root causes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with programming languages and database structures, including SQL and NoSQL.
- Proficiency with API architectures such as REST, GraphQL, and FastAPI.
- A basic understanding of how infrastructure teams operate, covering network protocols, systems administration, and endpoint management.
- Ability to manage assigned automation projects independently.
- Strong analytical skills to identify manual process gaps and solve them through programming.
