About the role#
Copart is building new AI-driven applications to support our global operations. We are looking for a Data & AI Intern to help design, build, and ship these systems. You will work alongside Product Managers, AI Architects, and Tech Leads to turn requirements into scalable features, ranging from LLM-powered agents to production machine learning pipelines.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement features powered by Large Language Models, Generative AI, and machine learning models.
- Build and optimize conversational agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines, and prompt engineering workflows.
- Work with model APIs and open-source models while evaluating quality, latency, and cost trade-offs.
- Develop efficient, secure, real-time services that surface AI capabilities to end users.
- Peer-review code and document solutions in an agile environment.
- Communicate with teammates across AI research, infrastructure, security, and QA.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Hands-on experience or academic projects with LLM APIs such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Hugging Face, or Ollama.
- Familiarity with RAG architectures, prompt engineering, and vector databases like pgvector, Pinecone, Chroma, or Milvus.
- Strong Python skills and a solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with SQL and working with relational or NoSQL databases.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a logical foundation.
- Ability to document AI architectures and data flows.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site at our headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
- The position follows a rolling term schedule.
