About the role#
Clean Harbors is hiring a Receiving Chemist Intern for our Cincinnati facility. This full-time summer internship provides hands-on experience in environmental services. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support operational projects and learn about hazardous material management. This role is strictly on-site.
What you'll do#
- Comply with all safe work practices, policies, and OSHA regulations.
- Receive incoming containers, verify load counts and sizes, and code waste for disposal.
- Sample incoming drums and perform basic analysis following prescribed procedures.
- Sort and consolidate alkaline batteries for disposal.
- Confirm drums are accurately coded for routing and billing.
- Assign proper disposal processes or outbound profiles to drums.
- Move drums from staging areas to facility storage.
- Complete necessary paperwork and ensure work meets QA/QC guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a chemistry degree program or a related field at an accredited college or university.
- Ability to lift 50 or more pounds.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar technical tools.
- Ability to work well within a professional team.
- A strong interest in the environmental services industry.
- Forklift experience is preferred but not required.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Program dates: Starts May 17 or May 24, 2027, and ends in August.
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
