About the role#
Envita Solutions is looking for a Data Scientist Intern to join our digital technology team for the summer of 2027. You will work on real projects that support our sustainability mission and drive digital innovation. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Indianapolis. You will gain hands-on experience by exploring production data, building models, and collaborating with our business transformation teams.
What you'll do#
- Collect, clean, and analyze both structured and unstructured datasets.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to share trends and insights with technical and non-technical teams.
- Build, fine-tune, and evaluate machine learning models for classification, regression, forecasting, and anomaly detection.
- Deliver proof-of-concept models and automation workflows.
- Partner with technology and business teams to understand the data lifecycle.
- Research current AI and machine learning trends to recommend new tools or methods.
- Follow all company Health and Safety policies and processes.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a college sophomore, junior, senior, recent graduate, or 1st or 2nd year master’s student.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or equivalent scripting languages.
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience handling real-world data.
- Familiarity with data manipulation and visualization tools such as numpy, pandas, seaborn, and plotly.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks like scikit-learn, scipy, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Coursework, projects, or internships specializing in Computer Science, Mathematics, or AI.
