About the role#
This is a 4-month co-op position for the Winter 2027 term, starting in January. You will join the Packet-Optical Hardware Development team in Ottawa. The role focuses on hardware quality and life cycle management for Packet Optical platform products. You will work on products currently in the field and address component obsolescence issues while collaborating across different teams.
What you'll do#
- Review alternate components for 2nd source qualification and obsolescence.
- Execute hardware verification plans.
- Debug prototype hardware using test equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
- Investigate hardware issues found in the field.
- Modify circuit packs to support testing or to resolve issues found during the testing process.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an Electrical Engineering degree program or equivalent.
- Familiarity with lab test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and test sets, along with measurement techniques.
- Understanding of high speed signaling, transmission lines, and digital and analog design.
- Experience designing and debugging hardware is preferred.
- Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools is preferred.
