About the role#
This is a 4-month co-op position starting in January 2026. You will join the ASIC IP team to help design and verify client protocol mapping IP for Ciena WaveLogic coherent engine chipsets. The role focuses on digital ASIC development, verification methodologies, and optical networking technologies.
What you'll do#
- Design and verify digital blocks, cores, and subsystems for ASIC products and FPGA-based validation.
- Collaborate with design and verification engineers on core development activities.
- Implement digital designs using SystemVerilog, Verilog, and VHDL.
- Verify digital designs using SystemVerilog and UVM methodologies.
- Develop and improve prototype and automation solutions.
- Apply knowledge of communications standards such as IEEE 802.3, ITU, and OIF.
- Complete assigned engineering tasks for digital ASIC development projects.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Previous experience with ASIC or FPGA development.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, and Python.
- Strong verbal and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Self-motivated work ethic.
- Helpful experience includes knowledge of OTN, Ethernet, and Optical Networking standards, strong debugging skills, and experience in a Linux environment.

- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: 4 months, starting January 2026.
- Employment type: Full time, on-site.
- Compensation: $27.00 to $37.50 per hour.
