About the role#
As a WaveLogic Software Intern, you will gain hands-on experience contributing to optical networking technologies. You will work with experienced teams to develop, validate, and improve software capabilities that support network solutions.
What you'll do#
- Build expertise in network solutions using optical transport and switching technologies like OTN and Ethernet.
- Develop embedded software to design, validate, and document networking features.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues by identifying root causes, diagnosing defects, and delivering fixes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and test modem technologies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Experience with C and C++ programming.
- Knowledge of embedded systems, device drivers like GPIO and I2C, and Linux or RTOS operating systems.
- Understanding of memory management, interrupt handling, synchronization, and inter-process communication.
- Ability to work independently, seek out answers, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Strong verbal and technical writing skills and the ability to collaborate in a team.
- Familiarity with the following is preferred: datacom and telecom concepts (DWDM, TCP/IP), hardware bring-up, CPU architectures, Linux development environments, Git, JIRA, Yocto, YANG, and scripting languages like Python, Go, or BASH.

- Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Type: Full-time, on-site internship.
- Compensation: $27.00 - $37.50 per hour.
