About the role#
VIAVI Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to join our team in Indianapolis. This position offers hands-on experience in the design, development, and testing of electrical systems and components within our telecommunications and light management technology groups.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior engineers with the design, simulation, and testing of analog and digital circuits.
- Support the development and debugging of embedded systems, including both hardware and firmware.
- Run laboratory experiments, collect data, and analyze the results.
- Create technical documentation, schematics, and layouts.
- Participate in design reviews and offer technical input.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical components into larger systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in prototypes and existing products.
- Monitor emerging technologies and trends in electrical engineering.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- A strong understanding of fundamental electrical engineering principles, such as circuit theory, digital logic, and analog electronics.
- Familiarity with circuit design and simulation tools like Altium Designer, Eagle, or SPICE.
- Experience using laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as C, C++, or Python, is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive attitude and attention to detail.
