About the role#
As an Optical & Electrical Engineering Intern at VIAVI Solutions, you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of optical and electrical systems. You will work on network test and measurement solutions while gaining hands-on experience in a laboratory environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, simulation, and prototyping of electrical circuits and optical modules.
- Conduct laboratory testing and characterization of hardware components and systems.
- Develop and execute test plans, analyze results, and document findings.
- Support senior engineers in troubleshooting and debugging hardware issues.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
- Research and evaluate new technologies, components, and methodologies.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, designs, and analysis.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of circuit design principles, analog, and digital electronics.
- Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools including MATLAB, Python, and Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with optical components, fiber optics, or optical communication systems is a plus.
