About the role#
VIAVI Solutions is hiring a Hardware Engineering Co-Op to join a product development team in Germantown, Maryland. This is a full-time, paid position that provides hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry. You will work alongside engineers to build and test solutions for communications test and measurement.
What you'll do#
- Assist with various stages of the hardware design process, including circuit design and testing.
- Troubleshoot hardware designs.
- Write HDL code and test benches.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to bring products to market.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate education in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Familiarity with common lab equipment like oscilloscopes and meters.
- Experience with FPGA or CPLD programmable logic using Verilog or VHDL is preferred.
- Familiarity with schematic, PCB layout, and simulation tools such as Spice is preferred.
- Knowledge of data communications and telecommunications protocols is preferred.
