About the role#
The Riera Lab at Cedars-Sinai offers an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in biomedical research. This internship focuses on the neuronal and neuroendocrine mechanisms that regulate energy homeostasis and metabolic health. You will work directly with Dr. Celine Riera and laboratory staff to contribute to ongoing research projects while developing your skills in experimental design and scientific communication.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to ongoing biomedical research projects.
- Perform mouse metabolic phenotyping, behavioral assays, and genotyping.
- Collect and process tissue, including RNA extraction and cryosectioning.
- Perform immunohistochemistry and microscopy techniques.
- Conduct quantitative image analysis.
- Participate in research discussions and present scientific data.
- Maintain data integrity and reproducibility throughout your experiments.
What you'll need#
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Hold a High School Diploma or GED.
- Reside in the greater Los Angeles area or surrounding cities.
- Must receive academic credit for the duration of the internship.

- The role is unpaid and requires enrollment in an academic program to receive credit.
