About the role#
This internship at KCRA/KQCA TV in Sacramento offers an opportunity to understand how a television station functions and the role it plays in the community. Interns will spend 10 to 12 weeks shadowing and gaining hands-on experience across various departments, including the assignment desk, news production, digital media, sports, and weather.
What you'll do#
- Assist team members in gathering news and information, including handling calls from reporters, government agencies, and the public.
- Research and write content for digital platforms, including the website, mobile app, and social media.
- Practice writing and formatting scripts for broadcast.
- Monitor national sports feeds for breaking news, log events, research statistics, and pitch stories.
- Analyze weather charts and models to assist meteorologists in preparing daily forecasts and graphics.
- Shadow reporters and photographers in the field and during live reports.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
- Ability to write and format scripts for broadcast.
- Strong research skills and an interest in media production.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
