WGAL News Intern - 2026 Fall

About the role#

WGAL-TV offers paid internships for the Fall 2026 term. Interns gain hands-on experience across the News, Sports, and Weather departments. Internships are scheduled based on mutual availability and academic requirements, typically consisting of 16 hours per week.

What you'll do#

• Assignment Desk: Assist in gathering news and information by communicating with reporters, sources, and government agencies.
• TV & Digital News Production: Write and format broadcast scripts, research and write content for digital platforms, and assist with field work and news gathering.
• Sports: Write scripts for daily sportscasts, research team and player statistics, and pitch story ideas.
• Weather: Analyze weather charts and models, prepare daily forecasts, produce graphics, and assist meteorologists with data collection and studio practice.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a relevant field such as Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Political Science, or English.
• For Weather department roles, you must be enrolled in a meteorology curriculum or a closely related program.
• For Sports department roles, a strong interest in and working knowledge of local and national sports scenes is required.
• Familiarity with news production processes and digital platforms.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
