About the role#
This internship focuses on covering government and politics in North Texas. You will handle a mix of breaking news, daily reporting, and service journalism. Your work will help shape how our audience understands local issues, from major policy events to online trends.
What you'll do#
- Write accurate news stories on government and political topics.
- Use social media to find story ideas and track audience interests.
- Build digital stories using SEO best practices, links, tags, and multimedia.
- Collaborate with editors to refine coverage.
- Assist with video and audio projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Strong news judgment, speed, and grammatical precision.
- Experience with social media for newsgathering.
- Proficiency in digital content management and newsroom planning tools.
- Knowledge of SEO techniques and digital news analytics.
- Ability to write for specific platforms and audiences.
- A valid driver's license and a registered vehicle for travel to assignments.
- Current enrollment in a program such as Communications, Journalism, or Political Science.
