About the role#
The Dallas Morning News offers a one-year fellowship on the Editorial Board for an early-career journalist. This role focuses on opinion writing and collaborative work regarding local, state, and national issues. Fellows gain experience in how media organizations develop perspective and voice while engaging with city, state, and national leaders.
What you'll do#
- Research, pitch, and write at least two editorials per week that reflect the board's positions.
- Manage social media initiatives for the board, including proposing new ideas for promotion.
- Report audience metrics to the Editorial Page Editor.
- Write signed columns on personal subjects to develop your individual voice.
What you'll need#
- Recent graduate status.
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, English, or History.
- Familiarity with the editorial board's positions.
- Strong research skills and the ability to write opinion pieces.
- Experience with social media management.
