About the role#
The Process Engineer Co-op supports engineering and operating activities at the Carbon Engineering Innovation Centre. You will work alongside the engineering and production teams to improve process units, run test campaigns, analyze data, and troubleshoot plant issues. This is a full-time, on-site co-op position based in Squamish, British Columbia. The role is for a duration of 8 to 12 months, starting in September 2026.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot plant issues through field assessments, document reviews, and data analysis.
- Support the execution of test campaigns and ensure plant readiness.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and engineering drawings.
- Create dashboards and trends to monitor plant performance.
- Perform event investigations for process upsets and suggest corrective actions.
- Support plant modifications through the management of change process.
- Document analysis and performance results in technical reports and presentations.
- Maintain a positive safety culture by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Canadian post-secondary institution, ideally in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year.
- Pursuing a BEng degree in Chemical, Process, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong grasp of core engineering principles including thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and fluid dynamics.
- Mechanical aptitude and a curious, explorer mindset.
- Ability to work in noisy environments and all weather conditions.
- Comfort working in a chemical or plant environment, including the safe handling of chemical products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Location: Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $22 to $26 per hour.
- Relocation: Support is provided, including four weeks of company-paid accommodation.
