About the role#
Clean Harbors is seeking a Chemistry Intern for our Summer 2027 program. Based in Sumter, South Carolina, this position offers hands-on experience in environmental and industrial services. You will work alongside professionals in the field, participate in safety briefings, and observe operations. This role is on-site and requires travel to various project sites.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize health and safety by following all workplace policies and processes.
- Build relationships across the branch by spending time in the field.
- Assist with project management, job execution, and timekeeping reviews.
- Perform wet bench chemistry and analytical testing under supervision.
- Support pre-job engineering preparation and technical research.
- Participate in team meetings, job briefings, and training sessions.
- Communicate progress and questions to your manager or mentor.
- Present a summary of your work and lessons learned at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong interest in the environmental services industry.
- Ability to work well within a professional team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant technical tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

- Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
