About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Co-op provides technical support at our Squamish facilities. You will work alongside our operations, major projects, and technology development teams. This position is an 8-month or longer term with flexible start dates. You will work on-site 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
What you'll do#
- Provide mechanical engineering support for site projects through the Management of Change process.
- Perform heat transfer, hydraulic, and stress or structural calculations.
- Select and order parts, produce drawings, and create bills of materials for equipment designs.
- Troubleshoot plant and laboratory equipment and processes.
- Perform Fitness-for-Service analysis on worn or damaged equipment.
- Conduct hand assembly and prototyping.
- Review designs for code compliance and interpret ASME, ANSI, and CSA standards.
- Develop specifications for piping, coatings, insulation, and structures.
- Review vendor proposals and assist in assembling specification packages for RFP documents.
- Research and prepare memos for specification deviations.
- Update engineering drawings and participate in document review cycles.
- Assist with document retention for the deployment of new EDMS software.
- Maintain a positive safety culture by reporting and investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Canadian post-secondary institute, specifically 3rd or 4th year of a Mechanical BEng or BASc program.
- Mechanical aptitude and a strong curiosity.
- Interest in piping design and material science.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and noisy environments.
- Capability to safely handle chemical products.
- Experience with Excel, Python, MathCAD, or 3D design tools like Autodesk Inventor is an asset.
- Familiarity with ASME B31.3, CSA 149.1.2.3, or the National Building Code is a plus.

- Location: Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.
- Compensation: $22-26 per hour.
- Relocation support: Includes 4 weeks of company-paid accommodation.
