    Title: Student Assistant-Sociology #738610182 Location: POMONA, CA, USA Employee Type: Student Assistant Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises Employment Services ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY SUMMARY: The Department of Sociology at Cal Poly Pomona is seeking a Student Assistant to support the development and launch of the new Certified Wellness Coach II (CWC II) Program. The position will run through January 15, 2027, with the opportunity to continue in future semesters based on performance, continued student enrollment status, and availability of grant funding. The CWC II Program is being developed in conjunction with the department’s forthcoming Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program and will help prepare students for careers supporting California’s behavioral health workforce. SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety): The Student Assistant will work closely with faculty and staff in a flexible support role, assisting with a variety of tasks related to the CWC II grant and program development. Responsibilities may include: · Researching and compiling information about the CWC II program for promotional and informational materials · Identifying potential guest speakers; assisting with the promotion, planning, and coordination of informational sessions and other events · Supporting outreach and recruitment activities · Completing general administrative tasks and grant-related paperwork. · The Student Assistant may also occasionally travel with faculty or staff to nearby community colleges or other local outreach events. · The Student Assistant is expected to work approximately 5 hours per week, with hours varying slightly based on program needs and scheduled events. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · Ideal candidates are organized, reliable, detail-oriented, able to work independently, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills · This is a hybrid position, with much of the work completed remotely; however, the Student Assistant will be required to attend monthly in-person meetings on the Cal Poly Pomona campus and may occasionally attend program outreach and promotional events on campus or at nearby community colleges. Additional in-person meetings or activities may be required periodically based on program needs. This position is an excellent opportunity for students interested in social work, behavioral health, higher education, or program development to gain hands-on professional experience while contributing to the launch of a new academic program. In addition, the Enterprises administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications.
