About the role#
As a Mental Health Therapist Intern at UT Health San Antonio, you work under a board-approved supervisor. You provide clinical and consultative services to prevent, assess, evaluate, and treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
What you'll do#
- Provide counseling and case management services for patients using evidence-based practices.
- Perform crisis interventions when necessary.
- Coordinate with referring providers, family members, and other professionals to engage patients in their care.
- Act as a liaison between the clinical team, leadership, and other professionals involved in patient care.
- Consult with others to ensure continuity of care, convey assessment findings, and implement therapeutic plans.
- Prepare reports and documentation that follow good clinical practice and institutional standards.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Knowledge and clinical experience regarding mental health issues.
- A demonstrated ability to provide diagnostic assessments.
- The ability to establish and maintain trust and rapport with patients.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Effective organization and time management skills.
