About the role#
This Student Assistant position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while supporting Dining Services. You will work in a team environment to help with daily operations, customer service, and various projects. This role is designed to help you build professional skills while balancing your academic commitments.
What you'll do#
- Perform a variety of tasks including food preparation, washing dishes, serving food, waiting tables, and cashiering.
- Help with general office duties, research projects, and tutoring.
- Handle custodial tasks and groundwork as needed.
- Receive and stock orders and items.
- Prepare documents and materials.
- Deliver customer service in person, via phone, or through email.
- Manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks with accuracy.
- Handle confidential materials with care.
- Communicate regularly with your supervisor regarding work status and task completion.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Cal Poly Pomona student.
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to obtain SERV Safe Certification within 30 days of hire if you handle food.
- Six months of quick service restaurant experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work well with a diverse team and maintain a professional, courteous manner.
