About the role#
Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is hiring Student Research Assistants for the CREST grant project. You will work under the supervision of Dr. Ellips Masehian and Dr. Shokoufeh Mirzaei. The team focuses on motion, grasp, and regrasp planning for manipulator robots used in manufacturing and assembly. This is a paid, part-time position requiring a commitment of 20 hours per week during academic semesters and the summer.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on robot manipulation and control.
- Develop AI and machine learning models for robot training.
- Implement leader-follower control for grasping and regrasping stationary objects.
- Work on autonomous grasping and regrasping for both stationary and moving objects.
- Collaborate with team members on subprojects.
- Work independently to meet research goals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a STEM major at Cal Poly Pomona.
- Strong coding skills, specifically in AI and machine learning.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
- Experience using technology to support student learning and program delivery.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
