About the role#
Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is hiring a part-time Student Research Assistant to work on a project sponsored by the Los Angeles County Public Works Safe Clean Water Program. You will work under the supervision of Dr. Ali Sharbat and Dr. Mehrad Kamalzare to support research on stormwater collection and dry-well infiltration.
What you'll do#
You will assist the project directors with all phases of the research project. Your tasks include:
- Conducting library studies and literature reviews.
- Performing site visits and collecting field data.
- Sampling and analyzing water and soil.
- Managing quality control and quality assurance.
- Contributing to experimental design and data analysis.
- Attending project meetings.
- Drafting project reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related major.
- Some technical academic research experience.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter and as part of a team.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to interact professionally with faculty, staff, and students.
- Previous engineering internship experience or water research training is preferred.

This is an on-site position located in Pomona, California. The role is part-time with a rolling term.
