About the role#
Buckner Children and Family Services offers internship opportunities within the Family Hope Centers, Foster Care and Adoption, and Family Pathways programs. This is an unpaid, on-site program designed for students pursuing degrees in Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Human Resources, or Criminal Justice. Interns gain experience in the non-profit sector while supporting programs that serve vulnerable populations in North Texas.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and implementation of activities for children and families.
- Shadow staff and assist in managing aspects of a family case.
- Collaborate with team members to plan special year-round events.
- Participate in meetings and fulfill tasks assigned by a staff supervisor.
- Perform clerical duties and learn technical skills related to non-profit operations.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
- A strong academic record.
- Ability to commit to 16-24 hours per week during business hours, with some evening availability required.
- Comfort working with children and adults of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and religious beliefs.
- Access to personal housing and transportation to the assigned internship site.
- Proficiency in giving clear written and verbal instructions. Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred but not required.
