Buckner Children and Family Services is seeking interns to support programs within Foster Care, Adoption, and Family Pathways in Amarillo, Texas. This internship provides an opportunity to gain experience in the non-profit sector while contributing to initiatives that support families and children in vulnerable situations. This is an unpaid, part-time position for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and implementation of activities for children and families.
- Shadow staff and manage specific aspects of a family case.
- Collaborate with team members on planning special year-round events.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to team discussions.
- Perform various clerical duties and tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
- Develop technical skills related to non-profit operations and ministry within underserved communities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Psychology, Public Health, Health Administration, Sociology, or Human Resources.
- A strong academic record.
- Ability to commit to 16-24 hours per week during business hours, with some evening availability required.
- Comfort working with children and adults of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, and religious beliefs.
- Proficiency in giving clear written and verbal instructions.
- Access to your own housing and transportation to and from the internship site.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred but not required.
