About the role#
BorgWarner is looking for a Technical Co-Op student to join the Drivetrain Systems team at the Auburn Hills Propulsion Technical Center. You will support the validation of Transfer Case Units, AWD assemblies, and related components. This role involves hands-on testing, design support, and technical analysis to help ensure products meet performance requirements.
What you'll do#
- Conduct and assist with tests on Transfer Case Units and components.
- Track test plans for 4WD, AWD, and Cross-Axle assemblies.
- Design test fixtures in collaboration with the CAD department.
- Perform both subjective and objective vehicle evaluations.
- Assemble and disassemble Transfer Cases and AWD hardware.
- Inspect components for wear and durability under guidance.
- Work alongside technicians to execute testing procedures.
- Perform engineering calculations and solve design problems.
- Document test outcomes and evaluate components against specific metrics.
- Support special assignments and help coordinate new product development.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical background.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong project coordination skills from start to completion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
