    About the role#

    The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Intern position is part of the Graduate Researcher Program (GRP). This program provides PhD students with hands-on industry experience over a 10-12 week period during the summer. Interns work with the Engineering and Technology Innovation team to support research and development across Boeing platforms. You will participate in mentorship, speaker talks, a week-long summit, and an innovation challenge to build your professional network.

    What you'll do#

    • Enhance internal CFD code to incorporate time-dependent modeling effects for fluid and multi-disciplinary analysis.
    • Improve the efficiency of aerodynamic simulation processes.
    • Benchmark current simulation capabilities.
    • Collaborate directly with code developers and application engineers.

    What you'll need#

    • Completion of the first year of PhD studies by July 2027.
    • Currently pursuing a PhD in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
    • Experience developing aerodynamic analysis and optimization tools.
    • Knowledge of compressible flows and turbulence modeling.
    • Fundamental understanding of computational fluid dynamics.
    • Background in numerical methods for unstructured grid CFD.
    • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2027.
    • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
