About the role#
This is a full-time, 8-month internship position for Winter 2027. You will work on-site in Toronto, contributing to the software development lifecycle within the financial services sector. The role requires you to work mostly independently while balancing technical execution with the bank's risk management framework.
What you'll do#
- Drive the software development lifecycle by transforming requirements into features.
- Translate user needs into technical specifications and prepare design documentation.
- Write, test, and maintain code while ensuring it meets security, logging, and performance standards.
- Debug business systems and service applications.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, including troubleshooting and fault rectification.
- Evaluate new technologies for their impact on existing systems and processes.
- Follow release management standards and apply version controls.
- Propose creative solutions to technical problems.
What you'll need#
- A post-secondary degree in a related field, such as Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in programming, cloud computing, and microservices.
- Experience with system development lifecycles, test-driven development, and quality assurance.
- Ability to perform technology business requirements definition and mapping.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability, learning agility, and emotional agility.
- Experience building and managing professional relationships.
