About the role#
As a Database Analyst intern at BMO, you will join our team for an 8-month term starting in Winter 2027. This role is part of our campus program, designed to integrate you into our daily operations while you gain hands-on experience in data management and platform support. You will work primarily independently, exercising judgment to solve problems and propose new solutions while applying our Risk Management Framework to protect bank assets.
What you'll do#
- Develop, maintain, and manage an analytics platform to enable data product delivery.
- Ensure data storage and processing meet quality, traceability, and security standards.
- Scale operational data flows to support modeling, data science, and machine learning requirements.
- Assist with cloud data migration processes.
- Manage platform operations, including production support and escalation management.
- Build and lead processes for handling production issues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and internal teams to monitor workflows and establish operational best practices.
- Leverage platform tools to optimize functionality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an academic program (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Data Science) with an intention to return to studies after the internship.
- Foundational knowledge in database management, repository design, and data integration.
- Familiarity with analytical platforms, system integration, and data security controls.
- Understanding of the data consumption lifecycle and IT operating models.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build relationships, negotiate, and influence others.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in systems thinking and technology delivery management.
