About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on-site in Toronto, contributing to actuarial production and regulatory reporting. This role involves working mostly independently while applying the Risk Management Framework to protect the bank and support business strategy.
What you'll do#
- Execute calculations and analysis for regulatory and management reporting.
- Extract and compile actuarial data to ensure the investment and risk portfolio meets guidelines.
- Assist with calculations for the Appointed Actuary legal responsibilities, including solvency opinions and capital calculations.
- Check and review model outputs used for financial business plans and product initiatives.
- Analyze actuarial issues and present findings to the Appointed Actuary for signoff.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and ensure alignment.
- Identify, diagnose, and solve problems using sound judgment.
- Propose creative solutions to business challenges.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an actuarial program with 3 to 4 exams completed.
- A post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or Economics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically 1 to 4 years of relevant experience.
- In-depth analytical, problem-solving, and influence skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated collaboration and team skills.
- Specialized knowledge gained through education or business experience.
