About the role#
Blue Canyon Technologies is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, 11-week position starting May 25, 2027. You will work on-site in Lafayette and Boulder, Colorado, supporting the production of small spacecraft and components.
What you'll do#
- Investigate manufacturing defects to find underlying causes and implement corrective actions.
- Support product and process development, including prototype builds and pilot runs.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, design, and test-engineering teams to turn designs into assembly processes and work instructions.
- Conduct time-study measurements on key operations to analyze work-content data.
- Develop standard labor times to improve productivity and cost estimation.
- Map manufacturing flows to identify bottlenecks and propose layout or process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a Bachelor’s program in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical information clearly.
- Experience with structured problem-solving methods like IDEAL, DMAIC, or Six-Sigma.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or Autodesk Inventor.
- Strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Coursework in manufacturing processes, engineering design, materials science, and statistics.
- Familiarity with time-measurement techniques and manufacturing concepts like value-stream mapping, line balancing, and cellular layout.
- Hands-on experience with defect investigations and corrective actions.

- Locations: Lafayette, CO and Boulder, CO.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Term: May 25, 2027 to August 6, 2027.
- Compensation: Paid internship.
