About the role#
Bird Construction is seeking a Student Project Coordinator for a 4 or 8 month co-op position starting in September 2026. This role provides an opportunity to independently manage specific areas of responsibility while receiving guidance from a supervisor and technical mentor. Projects are scoped to align with your term length and focus on active construction sites.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings and manage specific scopes or trades.
- Participate in project meetings and supervise sub-trade work.
- Conduct deficiency walks and maintain deficiency logs.
- Review trade quotes, verify material quantities, and track hours or rates.
- Issue warranties and manage progress photos.
- Update field drawings and produce as-built drawings.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and verify site conditions against drawings.
- Set up and maintain project record keeping.
- Layout site lines and grades using a total station.
- Create and maintain graphical schedules while monitoring manpower productivity.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Industrial Engineering program.
- Completion of at least one semester of education following the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead and operate effectively in an environment with frequent changes.
- Ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships.
- A sense of urgency and commitment to achieving project goals.
- Must possess valid authorization to work in Canada.
- Submission of a current transcript is required for all applications.
