About the role#
This is a four-month paid co-op position beginning in September 2026. Interns are assigned a supervisor and a technical mentor to support their growth while managing a business-relevant project. This role focuses on current construction projects and requires an on-site presence.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings and manage specific scopes and trades.
- Review trade quotes to verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
- Participate in project meetings.
- Conduct deficiency walks and maintain deficiency logs.
- Supervise sub-trade work and verify site conditions.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and layout site lines and grades using a total station.
- Update project schedules, monitor manpower productivity, and obtain scheduling information from sub-trades.
- Issue warranties, take progress photos, and produce as-built drawings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Industrial Engineering program.
- Completion of at least one more semester of education following the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- A valid work permit allowing employment with Bird Construction or its subsidiaries.
- Ability to lead and operate in an environment where change happens frequently.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to forge and maintain positive relationships and work collaboratively.
- A sense of urgency and a commitment to achieving goals.
- Submission of a current transcript is required with your application.

Positions are available in Edmonton, Alberta; Saskatchewan; Kamloops, British Columbia; Victoria, British Columbia; and Vancouver, British Columbia.
