Student Project Coordinator

About the role#

Bird Construction is seeking a Student Project Coordinator for an 8-12 month co-op position starting in September 2026. This role provides an opportunity to manage specific areas of responsibility on a current construction project while receiving guidance from a supervisor and technical mentor.

What you'll do#

• Coordinate drawings and manage work for specific scopes and trades.
• Review trade quotes and verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
• Participate in project meetings and conduct deficiency walks to update logs.
• Issue warranties and manage project progress photos.
• Update field drawings and produce as-built documentation.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and verify site conditions against drawings.
• Supervise sub-trade work and maintain project record keeping.
• Layout site lines and grades using total station equipment.
• Update project schedules and monitor manpower productivity.
• Obtain scheduling information directly from sub-trades.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or Construction program.
• Completion of at least one more semester of education following the internship.
• A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive professional relationships.
• Legal residency or a valid work permit to work for Bird Construction.
• Submission of a current transcript with your application.
