About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship for students completing a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in Welding and Fitting. You will work on-site in Terrebonne, Quebec, on a day shift schedule. The role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with steel structure fabrication.
What you'll do#
- Complete the initial company training program.
- Develop skills using various welding processes, including FCAW.
- Interpret welding procedures, symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Perform fillet and groove welds on production components.
- Assist fitters with the fabrication and assembly of steel components.
- Prepare components through cleaning, beveling, and laying out subassemblies.
- Operate overhead cranes to move and turn components.
- Adjust welding parameters and perform tack welding.
- Execute tasks such as preheating, heat straightening, and oxy-fuel cutting.
