About the role#
This 12-month co-op position offers students the opportunity to manage a specific area of responsibility on a construction project. You will work under the guidance of a supervisor and a technical mentor to develop professional skills in a hands-on environment. This role begins in September 2026.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings and manage specific work scopes or trades.
- Review trade quotes, verify material quantities, and monitor hours and rates.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct deficiency walks.
- Supervise sub-trade work and verify site conditions against drawings.
- Update project schedules and monitor manpower productivity.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and layout site lines and grades.
- Maintain record keeping and produce as-built drawings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or Construction program.
- Completion of at least one semester of education following the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to lead and adapt in a frequently changing environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive professional relationships.
- Valid residency or a work permit allowing employment with Bird Construction.
- Submission of a current transcript with your application.
