About the role#
Bird Construction is seeking a Student Project Coordinator for a 12-month co-op position starting in September 2026. This role provides an opportunity to independently manage specific areas of responsibility on a current construction project while receiving support from a supervisor and technical mentor. This is a full-time, paid position based in Calgary.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings and work for specific scopes and trades.
- Review trade quotes, verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct deficiency walks.
- Update project schedules, monitor manpower productivity, and create graphical schedules.
- Supervise sub-trade work and verify site conditions against drawings.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and layout site lines and grades using a total station.
- Manage project documentation, including progress photos, field drawings, and as-built drawings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or Construction program.
- Completion of at least one more semester of education following the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to lead in a changing environment and build positive relationships.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Residency or a valid work permit to work for Bird Construction.
- Submission of a current transcript with your application.
