About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will apply your accounting background to support our client base. You will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to prepare returns and extensions. This role provides a hands-on perspective on firm practices and allows you to build professional relationships.
What you'll do#
- Prepare simple tax returns using tax software applications.
- Complete quarterly estimates and extensions.
- Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices and project year-end filings.
- Ensure client data is collected to meet filing requirements.
- Apply firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual to tax accruals and income tax provisions.
- Organize files and use referencing systems to minimize rework.
- Monitor tax law developments and communicate how they affect clients.
- Use online research tools to gather tax information.
- Assist in developing methods to maximize client benefits.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions as directed.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Preference for candidates pursuing a Masters degree or those with leadership experience.
